On Friday, March 15, 2024, the Crump Garden welcomed a momentous visit from Terry Cosby, the Chief of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. Chief Cosby, accompanied by his team and representatives from the Central Arkansas Sphinx Foundation, embarked on a tour of the Crump Garden, witnessing firsthand the remarkable outcomes achieved through the dedicated efforts of local volunteers.
Despite the drizzly weather, the group explored the newly installed high food tunnel, a project made possible by a grant from the USDA. Delegation members commended not only the garden its
elf but also praised the innovative construction of the high food tunnel. The USDA officials were particularly impressed by the significant strides made at Crump Garden to combat food deserts in Little Rock and provide vital support to low-income residents. Their visit highlighted the impactful work being done to promote sustainable food systems and enhance community well-being.
